What is Carbon Build-up?

Carbon deposits are the by-product of combustion inside your engine. This build up will affect the efficiency of your engine and typically result in reduced performance, reduced fuel economy and increased emissions.

History

All over the world competing companies develop decarbonising products by reformulating existing chemical technologies. TerraClean though, like many medical and scientific breakthroughs, was discovered by accident.
TerraClean is the by-product of research being carried out by a group of environmentally conscious Canadian physicists in their attempts to create an ultra low emission internal combustion engine. Their test vehicles were retrofitted with a “molecular injector” so they were operating the “TerraClean” system as part of the vehicle’s on board fuel system. When their technicians stripped down the vehicles to evaluate impact of the technology they identified the fact that there was little evidence of carbon build up. Uncertain if this was due to the vehicles ages they specifically applied the technology to a known older vehicle, operated the TerraClean technology, then stripped down this vehicle too.
The point was proven, all the carbon which would have build up in this vehicle throughout its years of operation was gone. Regrettably the running costs of operating a vehicle full time on the chemical solution with the molecular injector as part of the vehicle made the project commercially non viable.
BUT, A new idea came to light.
A reverse engineering exercise was then conducted to identify why the TerraClean process had cleaned the engine. Also they extended the technology to consider how to develop the technology further to decarbonise an engine and the entire fuel system.

Petrol Engines

Fuel System Service

Terraclean is an advanced cleaning system that requires unique patented machinery and chemicals that connect to the vehicle using high quality OEM specific adaptors. The Terraclean machine takes over as the vehicles fuel tank and fuel pump. The process enables cleaning of internal engine components without dismantling the engine! The majority of carbon, tars and varnishes are removed from; fuel injectors, injection pumps, combustion chambers, valves, manifolds and oxygen sensors. Terraclean can also prevent EGR and turbo vane related problems when used as a preventative measure.
A Terraclean service will:
  • Restore fuel economy
  • Regain vehicle performance
  • Smooth idle by increasing lambda efficiency
  • Extend fuel injector and fuel pump life
  • Give immediate drive-away difference

Intake Clean

Direct Injection Engines are particularly susceptible to carbon build up on the backs of the intake valves. These valves are not cleaned during a conventional fuel system service and require a separate cleaning through the induction system. As more and more vehicles are made with Direct Injection Engines, there is a greater need to service the Intake Valves separately from a conventional Fuel System Cleaning.
The TerraClean Pressurised Induction Tool helps to perform an effective induction service on Direct or Conventional Fuel Injected Engines. The S-Tool is placed inside the intake past the Mass Air Flow Sensor and a fine spray of cleaner is introduced into the system. The intake valve deposit cleaner is sprayed on to the valves, ensuring that they are cleaned of hard carbon deposits that negatively impact effective combustion.
